DECIBEL
DECIBEL reimagines accessibility and celebrates Deaf identity. The app empowers users to design their own hearing aids or choose from curated collections. Made from recycled materials, we focus on the interchangeable casings and ear molds that blend sustainability, fashion, and functionality.
The app includes a dynamic design studio where users can customize the look of their hearing aids and share their creations with the community. Others can like, comment, and even add these custom designs to their carts. Additional features include a community hub for discovering local events and a blog that highlights stories and resources for the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community.
To extend the experience, a brick-and-mortar store concept was developed, allowing users to explore customizable options like casings and ear molds in person. This idea was inspired by curiosity and shaped by friends’ testimonials about navigating life in a predominantly hearing world.

Year
2024
For a 100 years, systemic barriers silenced deaf culture through educational language restrictions and civil rights suppression. Sign language was banned in schools, forcing assimilation into hearing-centric spaces. Beyond institutional constraints, societal discrimination limited personal autonomy.
Sign language emerges as a profound visual art form—challenging communication norms and revealing cultural resilience. My design work seeks to amplify these overlooked narratives of linguistic innovation and human dignity.
